Do I have to worry about getting lost on the Ascent trail?
« on: August 02, 2015, 01:55:01 PM »
I was reading the info under "Course Description", and the additional info under the  link,  "skyrunner.com". The skyrunner link gives a lot of detailed info and also mentions several times which roads/trials NOT to take so as not to get lost.

So now I'm concerned that I might get lost during the Ascent.  I've never done the Ascent before, is the trail well marked or will I need my own map and directions?

Thanks,

Maria

The trail is rather obvious, and going off course during the race is very hard to do. There are a few spots where you can go off course if you are on a training run but the folks at the Noname aid station are there to block the wrong path.

The only case I know of in recent years was when a group of fast folks go straight at the bottomless pit sign a few years back, but in order to do that they had to run around a big yellow sign that pointed to the left for the summit.

Generally speaking, unless you are in the lead, I would not worry about it.
