Snow on Pikes Pike (as of May 13, 2015)
« on: May 13, 2015, 12:11:21 PM »
I live at 8,000 ft and have gotten 2-3 feet of snow in the last 2 weeks.  I called to see if the PP highway was open.  They said it was open to 12,000' and not expected to open for two more weeks.  They have at least 10' of snow at the peak with more expected this week.  The summit house is completely buried in snow.

The cog railway cam is still completely snow covered ( http://www.cograilway.com/webcam.asp ) as of 13 May.  There is another camera that rotates 360 degrees ( https://parks.coloradosprings.gov/pikespeak )

For those of us planning to train for the Pikes Peak Ascent, a snow free trip to the top may come a little later this year.

We took the Cog to the summit on Sunday (31 May).  It's going to be probably the end of June, at earliest, before we can really get up there to train.  We did, however, summit the Summit House!

It might be an interesting race this year....  :o
