Barometric Pressure on Ascent Day


I heard a few people mention that the barometric pressure was unusual on the day of the Ascent.  Is it true that this can have an impact on performance?  I ran slower than I wanted to, especially above tree line....imagine that.  Maybe I'm just looking for an excuse :)  Does anyone know the science behind this?  Times in general looked a fair amount slower than last year.  Of course, it was warmer than last year too.  Thanks for any info.
